LIFE OF A SOLDIER

Saturday, February 9, 2008

This touched my heart...

Turn up your volume too theres a song!

You stay up for 16 hours.
He stays up for days on end.

You take a warm shower to help you wake up.
He goes days or weeks without running water.

You complain of a "headache", and call in sick.
He gets shot at as others are hit, and keeps moving forward.

You put on your anti war/don't support the troops shirt, and go meet up with your friends.
He still fights for your right to wear that shirt.

You talk trash about your "buddies" that aren't with you.
He knows he may not see some of his buddies again.

You walk down the beach, staring at all the pretty girls.
He patrols the streets, searching for insurgents and terrorists.

..

You complain about how hot it is.
He wears his heavy gear, not daring to take off his helmet to wipe his brow.

You go out to lunch, and complain because the restaurant got your order wrong.
He doesn't get to eat today.

Your maid makes your bed and washes your clothes.
He wears the same things for weeks, but makes sure his weapons are clean.

You go to the mall and get your hair redone.
He doesn't have time to brush his teeth today.

You're angry because your class ran 5 minutes over.
He's told he will be held over an extra 2 months.

You call your girlfriend and set a date for tonight.
He waits for the mail to see if there is a letter from home.

You hug and kiss your girlfriend, like you do everyday.
He holds his letter close and smells his love's perfume.

You roll your eyes as a baby cries.
He gets a letter with pictures of his new child, and wonders if they'll ever meet.

You criticize your government, and say that war never solves anything.
He sees the innocent tortured and killed by their own people and remembers why he is fighting.

You hear the jokes about the war, and make fun of men like him.
He hears the gunfire, bombs and screams of the wounded.

You see only what the media wants you to see.
He sees the broken bodies lying around him.

You are asked to go to the store by your parents. You don't.
He does exactly what he is told even if it puts his life in danger.

You stay at home and watch TV.
He takes whatever time he is given to call, write home, sleep, and eat.

If you support your troops, the click "reply to poster" copy all the codes, and repost the bulletin.

If you don't support your troops well, then don't re-post. You won't die in 7 days, your love life won't be affected, and you won't have the worst day ever. You don't have to repost. It's not like you know the men and women that are dying to preserve your rights.

1 more day to go!

I really can't wait until tomorrow. If you've ever read my previous postings, I mentioned that I am taking up medical transcription for certification and hoping to be done last December 2007. I was kinda disappointed when I learned that I need to extend another week due to the Holidays. But I feel better now, cause by tomorrow, January 11, 2008, I will be a certified medical transcriptionist already.

After 6 months, my hard work has paid off. After getting my certificate, I can start finding a job as a transcriptionist, here and abroad. But I'm hoping to be somewhere in the US this year, so wish me luck!

I'm hoping that this will give me a new start in reaching my goals in life. I certainly know that this will help me a lot that's why I pursued to finish the short course. You might be interested as well, specially if you're looking for a less stressful, laid-back kind of job. And you can work in the office or at home.

Hope to see more medical transcriptionists soon! Good luck to those who are in the same path!

Year of the Earth Rat

ZWANI.com - The place for myspace comments, glitters, graphics, backgrounds and codes
Happy New Year Graphic Comments

Five more days to go before we change up into a new calendar, and begin living in 2008!

According to the Chinese Zodiac, 2008 is the year of the Earth Rat, those born on 1946, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996 and who will be born on 2008, are all under the year of the Rat.

Year of the Rat was referred to, as the time for hard work, activity and renewal. A good year to begin a new job, get married and for a fresh start.
The best way for you to succeed is to be patient, let things develop slowly, and make the most of every opening you can find. People born in an Earth Rat are said to be logical realists, shrewd, charming, ambitious, and inventive. Of course, the entire horoscope must be considered when making any personality assessment.

In Chinese, the Rat is respected and considered a courageous, enterprising person. People born in the Year of Rat are clever and bright, sociable and family-minded. They have broad interests and strong ability in adapting to the environment and able to react adequately to any changes.

They are gifted in many ways and have an easy going manner. They are active and pleasant, tactful and fantastic, and are able to grasp opportunities. They seem to have interests in everything and hope to participate in doing it and usually do it very well.

FAMOUS RAT PEOPLE
Alyssa Milano, Cameron Diaz, Charlotte Bronte, Daryl Hannah, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennie Garth, Kristen Scott Thomas, Lauren Bacall, Lucrezia Borgia, Margaret Mitchell, Margot Kidder, Mata Hari, Nancy Wake, Olivia Newton-John, Sinead Cusack, Stevie Nicks, Toni Collette, and Tracy Pollan.

There's nothing wrong if you believe these kinds of prediction, specially when it's from another culture or belief, and if you don't want to believe it, it's your choice as well. But there are things mentioned above that's not hard to try, or should I say, that's worth trying. If you're hard working, has added patience, then this will indeed be a fruitful year for you!

Happy and Prosperity to all this New Year!

I am getting frustrated already!

In my search for blog sites that pay you to blog, I end up seeing Blogburner.com on the search engines. And so I signed up for an account with them.

After signing up, I end up not being able to log in. Sad right? I tried it for several times but it just won't really work. There's no existing link to retrieve my password either to know if there could be some errors on my log in information.

Now the question is, is Blogburner.com still an active site? Does it still exist? If you have any idea, please let me know!

Failed Coup?

It was a chaos yesterday at the Manila Peninsula Hotel, Makati, Philippines after several prominent persons held a 6-hour siege against the government.

Former military man turned senator Antonio Trillanes and Brigadier General Danilo Lim, joined by former vice president Teofisto Guingona and one priest and one bishop established a command point on the said hotel. After walking out of Makati RTC, Trillanes and company walked straight to the hotel, calling for citizen's support on their appeal for a change of government leaders. They were given until 3pm to surrender while military and police forces geared up and prepare for their surrender. Past the given time, when they still won't go out, the forces of the military threw in teargas inside the hotel, not thinking that there are still a few numbers of media men inside. A military tank was even driven inside the hotel, breaking the hotel's entrance. Before it, exchange of fires already started ruining the hotels furnitures and all. At 6pm, Trillanes and company declared that they'll surrender to authority, because civilians who are with them, most are already seniors, are not feeling well anymore. They've been coughing and vomiting since the throwing of teargas.

After several more hours of negotiation, Trillanes and company came out, telling the media that what happened is still an unfinished business. After the siege and their surrender, Trillanes and company were hand-cuffed, including the media men in the vicinity and was taken to Taguig headquarters for interrogation and investigation. Participants on the attempted coup were filed with a case of rebellion and subject for inquest the following day. Not only the pioneers of the siege but also the citizens who financed and helped them with their plan.

But according to police and military personnels, the threat is still there even if the plotters were caught, because one of them, Sergeant Faeldon is still out there and hunted by the authorities. Maybe that's why Senator Trillanes commented that what happened is still an unfinished business.

Should Spanking Your Child Be Illegal?

Massachusetts lawmakers say a proposed measure that would ban parents from spanking their children, even in their own homes, is a way to protect kids from abuse. But many parents believe it's an example of government run amok. In all 50 states, parents are legally allowed to spank their children.--- Spanking a child is far from abusing them, in some culture or family, it's their way of imposing discipline to their kids. Although there are some people who do abuse their children, happy and functional families spank their kids for disciplinary purposes only. Not allowing parents to discipline their kids is as good as making the kid an orphan, or taking the kid away from his parents and family.

Blogger Buzz: The Generosity of Bloggers

Same with what Squidoo does! They give bloggers the option to donate or not, a part of their earnings to the Squidoo Foundation or to the blogger's chosen foundation or charity!

It won't hurt sharing a part of your revenue with the less fortunates right? And it's great that some people come up with these kind of idea which is obviously for a good cause! Nice to know that generosity really grows!
